July 4th, 2008 DWS/DBA/NF part at the Marina Del Rey Hotel

Pre-Party meets at 10:45-11:00AM Saturday July 4th at MDR Hotel and Walks to El-Torito for Lunch/Drink Specials

Parking:	My recommendation: Car Pool (Post comment on the bottom of the event description to plan car-pool) The hotel has offered us to use their parking lot FOR FREE until full, just tell the attendant that you are with the Drinking with Strangers Party and they will allow you to self park. If the main lot is full, there will be two additional lots on Bali Way and probably charging $5.00-$7.00 to park for the day, and if they are full, the medical buildings and business buildings on Admiralty Way also offer parking, all within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. Very important for the people (and I know there are a lot of you) who are staying at the Hotel, get there early! We have negotiated with the hotel to fill their lots regardless of their reserved guests since most of the hotel will be filled with DWS/NFS members *


Time:	This Party will begin at 1:00 PM and I highly recommend you arrive at or before that time since Marina Del Rey and the surrounding area (Playa Del Mar, Venice and especially Santa Monica) SHUT DOWN their roads as the lots fill up in the area or at the latest by a schedule which you can find here. The Fireworks start at 9:00 PM You can however show up anytime by bicycle and there are many options on parking some distance and riding in on bicycle..

Who's Coming:	We have 550 people RSVP'd thru both currently, and our members have sold the hotel out! We figure we can handle about 700 guests in the space we have, and with that said and the expected flake factor, if you are not RSVP'd and would like to join us, please feel free to come early and party with us. Wristbands will be given out to all our members and DWS bands to people who have donated to make this function happen.

Theme:	It's Independence Day - Wear your Red, White and Blues! Wear Summer Comfortable Clothing, NOT your Tux.

What to bring:	Light clothing for the day, a sweater or jacket for the evening chill, bathing suit/towel if you plan on swimming, Cards or Board Games, your dancing shoes, great attitude, identification and money (cash/credit cards for drinks and food).

Drinks/Food:	We'll have several bars, inside and out. Also a large buffet of food to pick and pay for outside at the grill on the North Side of the Hotel near the Band. The Management has forwarded us the prices of the food this year:

Pre-Party:	If you are an early bird, feel free to park at the hotel at 10:30AM and walk over to El-Torito for Lunch, the GM has offered us a good deal and we expect to be walking back to arrive at the hotel by 1:00PM

Where do we meet:	We'll be wearing wristbands, we are taking over nearly the entire hotel for ourselves, The DJ and Dance floor will be in the Waterfront room, the band is on the North side (outside) and we are working on getting a set up for music by the pool. Look for us, we'll be all over with our wristbands. We'll have DWS/NFS Ambassidors that will be hard tp miss, or just ask anyone in tht hotel. Randy and I have been doing this for three years, so they all know us. If your still lost, the just walk up to anyone and say "Hi, I'm a stranger and here for the party" and they will lead you in the right direction for one of the hosts or our assistants.

About the Entertainment:	We've used this guy for the Mardi Gras Party earlier this year and he was great, Super friendly and a great DJ keeping everyone on the DanceFloor... Below is a New Band for us, and we are crossing our fingers...

Things to consider: For when your in doubt, keep my cell # on your person -> 917-648-5428 Do You Want to Avoid Traffic and Parking Issues - Then Join us for Lunch - We will be meeting in the parking lot of the Marina Del Rey Hotel between 10:30-10:45AM then walking over to El-Torito Did you check the bring list? Remember its warm during the day and chilly at night so plan accordingly (sweater/light jacket/etc.) DWS'er Malcolm says "another place to park is the Marriot hotel on the other side on Lincoln Ave. There will be a lot of parking there. Just take a cab from there or walk". If you come early, but do-not go to El-Torito, just head straight to the Bar and we'll see you when we arrive by 1PM. If you can't make it to the party, don't worry about your Yes RSVP, just have a wonderful holiday. As far as the pool is concerned, the hotel is reserving the actual pool for guest, but we are allowed to populate around the pool area and we'll have our own music blasting around that area for sure. If you have friends that you want to come with you to the party - just bring them and have fun! Bring Games if you want, I just love Twister and Mousetrap!
